Meet the Team

  • Oh Myo Kim

    Oh Myo is an associate professor of the practice in the Counseling, Developmental, and Educational Psychology program at Boston College. She is trained as a counseling psychologist. Dr. Kim’s research primarily examines adoption and racial and ethnic identity. Recently, she conducted qualitative interviews with Asian American adoptees who have experienced pregnancy and childbirth. Oh Myo is a Korean adoptee.

  • Bastiaan Flikweert

    Bastiaan (Seo Vin) is currently enrolled at Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies where he is studying for a master’s degree in Korean Studies. Bastiaan is an adult child of two Korean adoptees and is fluent in Korean. His research is primarily focused on the institutional history of transnational adoption from South Korea, investigating the role of the Korean state.

  • Xiang Zhou

    Xiang is a licensed psychologist and an assistant professor of Counseling Psychology at Purdue University. He is an international researcher from China. Dr. Zhou’s research centers on the development of minoritized youth and the application of culturally responsive counseling interventions. In a recent project, Xiang conducted 52 interviews with Korean adoptive parents to gain insights into their family dynamics and processes.

  • Richard Lee

    Richard is a Distinguished McKnight University Professor, Distinguished University Teaching Professor in the Department of Psychology, and Director of the Asian American Studies Program at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Lee is recognized for his scholarship in ethnic-racial identity and socialization, acculturation, discrimination and racism, and cultural conflicts between immigrant parents and youth with a particular focus on diverse Asian American populations.

  • Marisa Huang

    Marisa Huang (Nardone Mahoney) is a Chinese American adoptee from Boston, MA. Marisa is a doctoral student in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology at Boston College. She holds a M.A. in Child Study and Human Development from Tufts University and a B.A. in Psychology from Wellesley College. Her research interests are in ethnic-racial socialization, critical consciousness, and transracial adoption.

  • Eunice Lee

    Eunice is a 4th year undergraduate student at Boston College studying Secondary Education, English, and Cyber Strategy and Design.

  • Suiyenah Chen

    Suiyenah is a 4th year undergraduate student at Boston College studying Applied Psychology and Sociology.

  • Katie Costa

    Katie is a recent graduate of Boston College. She holds a BA in Applied Psychology and Human Development alongside a minor in Environmental Studies. She is looking to continue her studies and work in the field of psychology in the years to come.
